Mr. Lindsey
Heyo. I would like to think that I'm a fairly open minded person and that I couldn't give a rats less if someone mistakes me for a male for some reason or another. It's cool, I have short hair, I see how you could be confused. But I also have boobs, and they're not that small. For the record, I identify with the female gender and I am prepared to identify with it as long as I am in this particular life, maybe next time around I'll try on the guy pants.
All this said and done, I would like to show you this picture. That is a giant page of return addresses from the Paralyzed Veterans of America Association. I understand that their work is very important and that they need all the help they can get. This sheet is sent out in the mail in order to guilt convince people to support their cause and donate money. I'm all for this, good for them.
First, I would like to point out how many there are on this sheet. Most organization send about 10 return address labels, to entice you. Not PVAA. Noooo, they sent 98 labels. Each is "embossed" in shiny gold and has a picture of one of several items. A bear, an eagle, a wolf, the American flag, a duck, the letter 'S', or a 2011 with stars around it. They are sooooo pretty. I mean, anytime I send out mail, I think to myself, "Hot damn, I am glad I have this duck here to remind people of me, cause I'm a duck person." A few of them have fishing lures on them, as well as the eagle. Nice.
However, what I find most amusing about these labels can be seen in the close up photo. Mr. Lindsey Jordan Strain. I have 98 labels that say, Mr. Lindsey Jordan Strain. One would think, that if one was going to solicit people for money, one would go as far as to try to pick the proper gender. Don't get me wrong, I find this hilarious and you can bet your sweet bippy I'm going to use these things.
But damn, they're ugly. I guess my name is slightly gender neutral, Lindsey used to be a guy's name and it's spelled in the "male" fashion. Jordan is gender neutral as well. And I did talk The Husband into taking my last name, so I can see how the confusion may have originated. Gawd, look at the bear. It looks like it's got the full body itching herp and hasn't been able to stop.
Dear PVAA, please do not send me anymore of these things. I will never pay you for them.
On another note, it's been brought to my attention that I haven't been following through with some of my stories. Where the Husband was sick; he is now well. It appears that he and every other person that attended a certain happy hour at a certain bar (COUGH HACK MY BROTHER'S PLACE HACK) came down with a case of food poisoning and spent most of the weekend and the first half of the week rejecting everything their stomach came in contact with.
As for my toe, well, it continues to be weird. I am placing my bets on some sort of never-ending blister which shall plague me for all of eternity. Or as least as long as women continue to torture themselves with pointy shoes and heels. So, yes, eternity.
One last reminder: if you haven't done this then I demand that it be done as quickly as possible! Please check out my Tominda's new book release and consider supporting her work by buying a book or e-book! They can be bought at her webage or at Amazon.com. Check it out! I appreciate it!
Cheers!

Savory Saturday Not of My Own Making
I say, good man, could you fetch me some brandy?
Here is me and Em. She looks lovely (I applaud her use of scarf, I am a scarf whore, myself), while I look as if I have lost my chin. I think it's the angle I was holding the camera. I need longer arms.
I also wanted to show everyone this particular advertisement on the metro. Do you see how they say all you need is coffee for the metro? Someone has never ridden the metro before, because you can't have food or drink on the metro. It's against the law, for real. In fact, this is from the Washington DC Metro page: "It is unlawful to eat, drink or smoke in the Metro system because of the labor and cost associated with maintaining the cleanliness of the transportation system as well as for safety reasons. Customers can be cited by Metro Transit Police for violating the no eating, no drinking, and no smoking rules."
Therefore, I would like to find the person in charge of this advert and punch him in the face. On principle. As he has never ridden on the metro before and is inciting his customers to break the law.

Fairly Fun Friday
Hey guys! Great story to tell; I went to a happy hour tonight with The Husband and the people he works with (all of which are coincidentally people I refer to as friends). I'm sitting at one of the tables, talking to a friend of mine, when he points out to me a young man with crazy blond hair, hipster style, and Ray Ban sunglasses on. In the middle of a restaurant, and it's dark outside. To each other we say, "Man, he's almost emo there. I like his sunglasses though. Why is he wearing them inside?"
No more than five minutes later, I turn to my friend to say, "Dude, we are an ass. That guy is blind." My friend's eyes get very large and he turns, noting the cane the man is toting and grimaces. "He probably heard us too...they have crazy hearing."
"At least he knows then that we know we're an ass."
Figures!
Pictures! On my way to meet the Husband for the Happy Hour, I stopped to take pictures of the police memorial at the Judiciary Square Metro stop.
This statue is part of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial that is located just at the top of the Judiciary Square metro station. This lion symbolizes "the protective role of law enforcement officers and convey the strength, courage and valor that are hallmarks of those who serve and protect." It is perched on a wall that lists the names of police officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. The inscription underneath the lion reads, "The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion." - Proverbs 28:1.
The lion is crouched over and in front of him are two lion cubs, which he is shown as protecting.
There are two pathways which are lined with low walls. On these walls are the names of the fallen, which numbers around 19,000; the names have been kept since 1792, the first known death. Each year, in the spring, more names are added to the wall. This makes this memorial unique, it is constantly changing, unlike the other memorials in Washington.
In this picture, you can see the names inscribed on the wall and the lion crouching down to look over it's cubs. It's a very nice memorial, pretty low key in comparison to the other memorials you'll see if/when you visit the city. I should poke around and see if I can find one for fire fighters as well.

Fascination with my Toe
There is something wrong with my pinky toe. I need to see a foot doctor. Podiatrist.
Sorry for another foot picture, today was particularly uneventful. I applied to two more jobs. I'll just keep putting 'em out there. Something is bound to hit sometime.
Did the exercise video. I have very weak arms. WEAK SAUCE.
I should have more interesting things tomorrow. Check back then. Cheers!

OH YEAH!
Outside of work, today was a glorious day! I saw the sun! (I'm sorry to my friends who are currently stuck in the blizzard, I hope you are ok.) Look, I will post the picture I took of the sun, in memory of this time.
I kept hearing that song, "Let The Sun Shine In", is that from Hair? Anyway, it was about 50 degrees when I went outside for a brief run to the bank. I was stunned. I may have even broken a sweat. It's hard to say. I did squint a lot. It was nice. I haven't seen any blue skies in a while either (which is hilarious, as that's what the blog is called). Look at that though! Blue skies!
I took this one just so I could note the color of the sky again. I was pretty pleased to get out of the office for a few moments. I'm so ready for spring, but not summer. I hate super hot weather. I'm all about moderation, even in my weather.
What else made this day great? Well, I made one of my favorite dishes, curry, that my good Japanese friends taught me how to make in college. (Oh how I miss them.) I did a good workout, and I feel good from it. Tominda's book is officially released! Her release party is tomorrow and you can buy the thing on her website right now! Please support her awesome work and go check it out. She has the option to download the e-book or you can buy the paperback. I bought two. I plan to frame one as soon as I get it. I'm going to cry all over the other one. I can't wait! They only thing that would make this evening better would be if chocolate and peanut butter didn't have calories!
Another small tidbit: I've had this song stuck in my head for days.

EXCITEMENT!
I'm just excited that Tominda Adkins is getting her book soon and that means I get a copy soon to hold! It's gonna rock! I can't wait! I am so proud and excited and wow! Yeah!
Let us get to the picture I took yesterday and the pictures for today.
This is Monday, in class. That's my friend C, and her chest. Man, I don't know how that happened. I put the camera on the table and pointed at C and the other friend sitting down at the end there, who shall be known as BB. And I managed to mostly get a shot of her boobs. They are fantastic though, so I can see how that could have happened subconsciously.
She looked at the picture after I took it, she knows I said this, so don't be offended on her part. She knows I love her.
This class is my International Negotiation class, we learn how to talk to other people. It's pretty awesome, but I won't bore you with the details at this exact moment. Someday I will regal you with how you need to build momentum and other such things, but for now we'll put that on hold.
So for today, here is another school shot, but instead, it is of my dinner. Yay! I like to nom on an apple that I sliced and topping it off with a Baby Bell Swiss cheese wedge. Very healthy. Then I have myself a special K bar. This class is a more general class, we have a lot of guest lectures and it's ok. The other one is better. (I apologize to any professors of mine who may be reading this.)
And now, I will give you the rest of the pictures for today, as taken by our guest photographer, S:

Special K Bar, for the special girl. Me.
I plan things, as you can see.
S took a boob shot of me, since I take them of C.
